Description

About

Observation Care is increasingly impacting how every hospital in the country thinks about capacity management, reducing costs, and providing more effective care. Observation Care '14 will examine the most crucial issues surrounding the growth, implementation and latest rules surrounding Observation Care:

  • What impact will a properly designed observation unit make? Examine the potential impacts on fiancee, hospital capacity and flow using time-lapse scenarios. Compare different observation unit types, including open, closed, and mixed units.
  • How will the 2-Midnight rule affect your region and hospital, and what will the fall-out be from RAC reviews and commercial denials? What coding and documentation requirements can limit your risk, and how can you keep your providers current and avoid compliance errors?
  • What patient types are appropriate for Observation Units? As observation care expands, how do you set criteria for observation care patients, and where do mental health patients, children, and even critical care patients fit in?
  • Explore negotiating strategies for an Observation Care contract between the provider group and hospital administration, including the land mines and real-life scenarios that exist with a for-profit observation unit management model.

As healthcare continues its rapid evolution, definitions of patient care change, and the ACA rollout impacts patient reimbursement, make sure your hospital is adapting to the shifting landscape. Observation Care '14 will present the most up-to-date present ions from national leaders in Observation Medicine. The conference is designed for Hospital and Health System Administrators, ED physicians, Case Managers, Nurse Practitioners, Physicians Assistants, Hospitalists, and Billing-Coding professionals to keep pace with the current trends and market practices, and the challenges that are already here.

Program

Observation Care '14 will present key insights into achieving operational success, clinical protocols, and models of successful financial structuring from national experts and experienced negotiators.

The agenda reserves time for expert panels to give detailed answers to your pressing problems:

  • Avoiding and responding to RAC audits.
  • Staying compliant with CMS guidelines.
  • Creating protocols that are relevant and specific to your patient population's needs.
